Ian is a passionate advocate who is committed to helping resolve challenging family law disputes.
Ian’s family law practice encompasses all aspects of family law including property and support claims, high-conflict custody and parenting disputes, divorce, separation agreements, cohabitation agreements, and marriage contracts.
Ian prides himself on the strategic and creative solutions he develops, his strong interpersonal skills, and the practical, results-oriented legal advice he provides. While his preference is to negotiate an amicable settlement for clients where possible (directly through counsel or in alternative dispute resolution), he also advocates for clients in litigation.
Ian was called to the Ontario Bar in January 2018. Before becoming a lawyer, he graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Law & Society. Subsequently, he attended Bond University where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a specialization in Canadian Law and Practice.
Katie is passionate about putting the best interests of children first in family law. She knows that there is nothing more important to you than your children.
She is a recipient of the annual Nicholas Bala Award for Excellence in Children and Family Law and is co-author with Dr. Bala on a number of articles regarding the topic of children and the law.
Katie’s passion for family law – and for keeping current with changes in family law – is reflected by her educational pursuits. She holds a master in social work, is a certified parenting coordinator, and has trained in family therapy and in collaborative law.
Her experience, training, and insight make her especially adept at advising on child-related issues and navigating the complex emotional landscapes in divorce and separation. She appears regularly in the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court of Ontario. She presents at the Mandatory Information Program (MIP) at the Newmarket Court.
Katie was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2016. She earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Queen’s University and subsequently earned a Master of Social Work with a Specialization in Children and Their Families from the University of Toronto.

Ashley advises clients in all areas of family law and divorce law, from marriage contracts to separation agreements in negotiation and in litigation. She has hosted sessions for litigants at the Mandatory Information Program (MIP) at the Newmarket Court.
In her fertility practice, Ashley represents clients (donors, surrogates, and intended parents) on a range of matters, including egg-donor agreements, sperm-donor agreements, and surrogacy agreements.
She is both detail-oriented and results-driven. She appears regularly in the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court of Ontario.
Ashley was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012. Prior to joining Krol & Krol Professional Corporation, she worked at one of Canada’s leading securities litigation boutique firms in Toronto. Ashley earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Queen’s University. As an undergraduate student at McGill University, Ashley received many prestigious academic awards and scholarships.
Stephanie strives to keep families out of the court process, and this has been the focus of her practice since 2009.
While Stephanie always advocates passionately for her clients, she has an acute understanding that the best resolution for clients is often one that is achieved through discussion and negotiation. She has a dedicated, client-centered approach that focuses on achieving fair and amicable resolutions for her clients.
Stephanie has a meticulous eye for detail. She enjoys drafting, particularly preparing complex agreements, including marriage contracts and separation agreements, and works diligently to resolve matters in a timely fashion.
Stephanie Krol attended law school at Queen’s University, obtaining the degree of Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2009. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2010. Prior to obtaining her J.D., Stephanie attended York University where she majored in Psychology and earned a Bachelor of Arts.

Israel has practiced exclusively in the area of family law and divorce since 2009 and has litigation experience at the Ontario Court and Superior Court levels.
He also takes a resolution-focused approach to clients’ matters. Where appropriate, Israel will work to achieve settlement for his clients through negotiation, mediation, or other forms of alternative dispute resolution outside of the court process.
Since 2010, he regularly presents at the Mandatory Information Program (MIP) at the Newmarket Court. Israel is also a parenting coordinator and an arbitrator.

When Israel is not spending time with his wife and children, he is involved in a variety of charitable and volunteer work in the community. This includes serving as a current member of the Board of JACS (Jewish Addiction Community Services), and co-chairing numerous fundraising events for JACS. He volunteers on several committees at Beit Halochem Canada, which provides assistance and rehabilitation to thousands of injured and disabled soldiers. Israel is also the chair of an annual toy drive which delivers thousands of toys to hundreds of children from low income families during the holiday season each year.
Mark knows the court system.
He is the head of the Dispute Resolution Officers Program at the Newmarket Court, as well as being a Dispute Resolution Officer (DRO) himself. DROs are lawyers with at least ten years of experience who are chosen by judges to assist litigants by providing their evaluation of the parties’ court case at an early stage in the litigation.
Mark’s practice includes all areas of family law. He is an experienced trial lawyer and excels at courtroom advocacy. He appears regularly in the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court of Ontario. He is also an effective family law mediator and arbitrator.
Mark is a member of the Family Rules Committee which, subject to the approval of the Attorney General, makes rules for the practice and procedure of the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice. Mark was selected for this position because he is a respected member of the family law bar.
Marilyn has been the managing partner at Krol & Krol, along with Henry Krol, since its inception.
Marilyn is known for her organizational ability and her exceptional attention to detail. Considering she raised five children, three of whom are lawyers at Krol & Krol, while running a law firm, we think that’s an understatement.
There are not too many people like Marilyn – she was admitted to law school at McGill University at the age of 18 and graduated with two law degrees (both civil and common) at age 21. Marilyn will bring her intelligence, her laser-like focus, and incredible work ethic to your matter.
